Breaking news: Eleven football players among Alabama Athletics’ 98 spring graduates…

A total of 98 University of Alabama student-athletes will celebrate earning their degrees for the spring semester this weekend.

A total of 98 University of Alabama student-athletes are set to be awarded 99 undergraduate and graduate degrees this weekend. The Tide’s achievements include three Olympians, an NCAA champion, eight All-Americans, 21 SEC champions and 13 All-SEC honorees.

Among this year’s spring graduates are student-athletes who contributed to College Football Playoff semifinal runs, a men’s basketball Final Four appearance, softball College World Series appearance and a women’s soccer College Cup berth. The Tide’s graduating class has also helped secure Southeastern Conference Championships in men’s and women’s cross country, football and soccer.

Highlighted among Alabama’s graduating student-athletes are NCAA Singles Champion Filip Planinsek (men’s tennis), NCAA West Region All-Tournament Team Grant Nelson (men’s basketball), and WNBA Draft selections Sarah Ashlee Barker (first round) and Zaay Green (third round) from the women’s basketball program.

Of the 99 degrees earned by the Crimson Tide, 76 are bachelor’s and 23 are master’s, with one student-athlete graduating with both a master’s and bachelor’s degree. Combined with the 35 graduates who earned degrees following the fall semester, the Crimson Tide has seen 133 of its student-athletes take home diplomas during the current academic year, a total that will rise when the summer commencement list is announced in August.
